Safety/Electricity Education

Scenic Rivers Energy Cooperative offers safety education programs to schools and civic groups.  Educational tools include the following:

  • Get Charged! Discovery Channel Packet
  • Video tapes
  • Handout materials on electrical safety
  • High voltage demonstration to show the effects of contact with a high voltage power line (for large groups)

Touchstone Energy Cooperatives (Scenic River Energy Cooperative) have been reaching out to teachers and students through the Get Charged! Electricity and You educational programs. This unique educational tool, sponsored by Touchstone Energy Cooperatives and Discovery Channel School, provides a real-world understanding of the power and purpose of electricity, as well as the importance of electric cooperatives in bringing power to rural America. The Get Charged! curriculum kits provide the tools educators need to teach middle/junior high school (grades 5-9) students about electricity and the cooperative form of business.

Along with the Get Charged! Packet, we also have a wealth of resources available for your learning pleasure. Resource topics range from the ABCs of Electricity to the Operation of a Transformer to Renewable Energy and a whole lot more.

Scenic Rivers Energy Cooperative is also actively involved in Rural Farm Safety programs for the youth in Grant, Lafayette and Crawford counties. We not only provide financial support but we also provide employees who put on a high voltage demonstration and help in organizing the programs offered.

If you belong to a school or an organization that is interested in educational materials/ speakers, or an electrical and safety demonstration, please contact our office.
